The Opening Matters More Than the Unit

A window or door is only as good as the opening it sits in. Most drafts and leaks come from the rough opening, flashing, and trim. The unit itself is rarely the part that failed.

Window Installation in Connecticut

New construction windows set in fresh rough openings on additions and remodels. Sill pan, flashing tape, and house wrap lapped in the right order, so water drains outward.

Signs Your Windows or Doors Need Replacing

  • Drafts at the Edges

Drafts you can feel around the sash or door edge on a cold, windy winter day.

  • Fogged Glass

Fog or condensation trapped between the glass panes, which means the insulated unit seal has failed.

  • Soft Sills or Jambs

Soft or darkened wood on the window sill or along the bottom of the door jamb.

  • Sticking and Dragging

Sashes that stick or won't lock, and doors that drag on the threshold after every season.

How a Window and Door Job Runs

  1. Measure and Inspect

We measure every opening and check the frames, sills, and jambs, looking at rot and movement.

  2. Written Scope

You get a written scope with the unit types, sizes, trim details, and the installation method.

  3. Remove and Install

Old units come out, openings get repaired and flashed, and the new units go in square.

  4. Test and Trim

We test every sash and door, finish the trim, and haul away all the old units.

Window and Door Questions from Connecticut Homeowners

Should I get insert or full-frame replacement windows?

It depends on the frame. If the existing frame and sill are solid and square, an insert replacement saves time and trim. If there's rot or the opening has moved, full-frame is the right call. We'll tell you which after we look.

How do I know my windows need replacing?

Usually, when the glass is fogged, the sash won't stay up, or you feel air moving on a windy day. Repairs can fix hardware and glazing. Once the frame or the seal is gone, replacement costs less over the long run.

How long does window replacement take?

Most replacement windows go in within a day or two per floor. It depends on how many openings there are and what we find behind the trim. Each opening gets closed the same day, so the house is never left open overnight.

Do you install the trim around new windows and doors?

Yes. Every window and door comes with interior and exterior trim finished to match the house. That includes casing, stops, and exterior brickmold or flat stock. If the trim needs paint, our painting service can handle that part too.

Can you replace windows and doors in winter?

Yes. Windows and doors get installed year-round in Connecticut. In winter we swap one opening at a time and close it right away. Heat loss stays minimal, and the caulk and flashing we use are rated to cure in cold weather.
